Aldo Leopold Day Trip
Join Dubuque, Jackson, and Jones County Conservation as we take a day trip to the Aldo Leopold Foundation and take a guided tour of the Leopold shack, lasting roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. Famed as the “godfather” of modern conservation and author of “A Sand County Almanac”, the shack is where Aldo Leopold wrote much of the Sand County Almanac. We will also be able to explore the Leopold Center and learn more about Leopold and the surrounding area. On our way home, we will be stopping by Pewits Nest State Natural Area to stretch our legs as we hike to a series of waterfalls. Participants should pack a lunch to eat. We will be meeting at Hurstville Interpretive Center at 7:30am to carpool and Swiss Valley Nature Center at 8:00am to carpool. We expect to be back around 5:30pm-6:00pm. Limited carpooling is available. Participants must register by Monday, May 24th. Registration is $5.
