Continuing the 100-year tradition of campus portraits at Iowa State, in 2016 artist Rose Frantzen was commissioned to create 39 portraits of impactful Iowa State University alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends for the Faces of Iowa State portrait series. Two more portraits were added in 2019 and to continue this unique public art project, six new portraits were commissioned to celebrate six exceptional students in 2020. Get a behind the scenes look at the painting process of Rose Frantzen, as she paints these new portraits. Viewers will have the chance to join a livestream video and feel like they are peering over the artist’s shoulder, in an intimate look at Frantzen’s artistic process as the portraits develop in real time. Each session will last approximately four hours. The six students selected were nominated by their college and selected by President Wendy Wintersteen.
