SUMMARY:Oakland Mill Business After Hours/Grand Opening
DESCRIPTION:The Oakland Mill is Maquoketa's newest event center located on the\n\nedge of town on Prairie Creek. The Mill was originally built in 1867 and\n\nis built into a limestone bluff. The Mill ran as a grist mill powered by a\n\nturbine in the basement which ran off Prairie Creek. In recent years it\n\nwas well known as Costello's Old Mill Gallery and Costello's Old Mill\n\nReception Hall.\n\n\n\nThe Mill was purchased by Lacey McDevitt and Nick Szebeni in 2012\n\nwith the intention of continuing the event center and holding events for\n\nthe public. They have been working hard at renovations to update\n\neverything. They currently live in the top 2 floors of the Mill with their 2\n\nchildren\, Lyla age 4 and Benjamin age 2 1/2. Lacey is a native of\n\nMaquoketa and Nick is from the Milwaukee area. They saw the mill as a\n\ngreat opportunity for events in the community.\n\n\n\nThe Oakland Mill is available for rent for weddings\, parties\, showers\,\n\ncorporate events \, etc. The Mill will also hold events for the public. The\n\nMill can accommodate up to 150 people. The Mill has many unique\n\nfeatures including a wrap around deck\, gazebo\, large patio\, and\n\nspacious backyard overlooking Prairie Creek. Inside there is a\n\nkitchenette for use and a large table for buffet style serving. A new\n\ncustom bar made from red cedar and walnut serves up beer\, wine\,\n\nsoda and water. The Mill is not a restaurant and does not serve food.
