DESCRIPTION:Tom Christopher Workshop Returns to MAE | March 26th to 27th\, 2022\n\nPainting the MidWest Landscape in Pastels | Welcome fellow artists!\n\nMarch 26th\, 9am to 4pm and March 27th\, 9am to 12pm\n\nCost: $200\n\nClass Description |  Tom will begin the workshop with a demonstration of pastel painting using various textural techniques for underpainting on gator board.  Attending artists will receive instruction and prepare their own textured surface for pastel painting. Tom will have enough gator board to allow each artist to prepare his own surface to paint on throughout the workshop.\n\nAttending artists will receive additional instructions in Plein-air painting as well as studio techniques. This workshop is also open to artists not currently working in pastel. The central focus of the instruction is on understanding value\, color\, and texture in the midwest landscape.\n\nArtists are encouraged to bring photographs to use as reference material. Tom will also have photos for reference as well as a good supply of gator board sufficient time each day will be provided for individual instruction and goal planning for all attending artists. Students are also encouraged to bring previous works for individual critique.\n\n STUDENT SUPPLY LIST\n\n1.  Pastels_medium to soft pastels work best\, examples include\n\nTerry Ludwig\, Sennlier\, Unison\, Mt vision.\n\n2. Your favorite pastel paper  examples include Canson\, Pastel Mat\,\n\nUart\, ect.   Gator board  (available online through Uline shipping ).\n\n3.  A small set of watercolors or acrylic paints and brushes.\n\n4.  Landscape reference photos \n\n5.  Drawing pencils and/or charcoal sticks.\n\n6.  Large drop cloth\n\n7.  Camera  or cell phone camera\n\n8. Small sketchbook\n\n9. Smock\n\n10. Water
